Who We Are
Our Mission
Our vision and mission at Valentine Community Services, LLC (VCS) is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live safe, full and vibrant lives: enjoying the wealth of opportunities that are available in their community and discovering new places far beyond it, all while being encouraged and supported to discover themselves and grow as individual people. From the moment we started our work in 2009, we understood that only by putting together a copassionate and skilled team of people with a shared heart of love for others could we achieve our mission, and so we've expanded that mission to encourage and support the members of our VCS team to find fulfillment in the work we all do for this community of diverse people, to advance our skillsets, discover new passions and realize and achieve our own unique visions along the way. This is why we decided to launch Valentine Community Services, LLC, to strive to make a positive and profound change in the lives of the wonderful people we support and our amazing team of people supporting them. And with everything we do, we aim to do it with a heart full of love for all people!

Our Services
Making a Difference
Supported Living
VCS provides Supported Living Services, which is a support service provided in a home serving one to three persons. It is a blended service that covers habilitation, personal care, nursing, and other residential supports. Supported Living Services provides support to persons who have limited informal supports and have an assessed need for assistance with acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to activities of daily living, such as personal grooming and cleanliness, bed making and household chores, eating and the preparation of food, and the social and adaptive skills necessary to enable the person to reside in and be a part of his or her community, based upon what is important to and for the person, as documented in his or her Individualized Support Plan (ISP) and reflected in his or her Person-Centered Thinking tools.
Transportation
VCS provides Supported Living Services with transportation. The provision of transportation services is used to gain access to Waiver and other community services and activities, as well as full access to the greater community for all persons living in the home. Transportation services can include the use of agency vehicles, assisting persons in utilizing MetroAccess services, public transportation services, and ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft.

Person-centered Care
Their Voices and Their Choices
Person-centered care is a service provision that supports positive control and self-direction of people’s own lives. This form of service delivery is rooted in Person-Centered Thinking, a philosophy that shifts the focus of developing support plans off of the agency providing support and onto the person being supported; seeing them as a central and actively participating party in the process of developing their own support plan. When developing a plan of support we do our best to make sure that the persons supported are being listened to, have positive control over the direction of their lives, that their daily routines and rituals are honored, that we are mindful of what is important to them, that we respectfully address issues of health and safety while supporting their right to choose for themselves, and that we develop goals that help them get more of what is important to them while harmoniously addressing what is important for them.
Through Person-centered Care, we strive to support persons with ID/DD to find balance in their pursuit of a good quality life.
